Technical texts for the building industry providing a detailed commentary on building legislation suitable for students undertaking University and TAFE building courses, and building practitioners, including licensed builders, building certifiers, building inspectors, architects, building designers and engineers. Building industry practitioners are now constantly exposed to the harsh realities of Australian commerce. Accordingly, Universal Texts also includes emphasis on commercial matters within its latest publications. DC1 Guide for Domestic Construction (2006 Edition) The DC1 Guide is a 650 page text addressing the technology of modern domestic construction. All details are consistent with building regulations and also address common law, consumer protection legislation (builders' licensing) and Trade Practices Act issues. DC1.1 Basics for Building Plans This text expands on Section D16 of the DC1 Guide to Domestic Construction (above). Included are extensive checklists of the information to be included on building plans that will satisfy building certifiers when granting building approval. Also included are example plans drawn to this standard. DC1.2 Wind Classification for Building Sites This text expands on Section D9 of the DC1 Guide to Domestic Construction (above), providing further checklists and example plans of the procedures for selecting the wind classification of building sites. DC2 Commerce and Law for the Building Industry DC2 is a 230 page text addressing, in plain English, the marketing, commercial, financial and legal information required by building practitioners. IQM-1 Quality Management Systems in Plain English IQM-2 Introduction to Quality Management The two IQM publications provide an introduction to quality management consistent with the international ISO 9000 standards. DC2.1 Surveying and Site Set Out for Builders This text provides the basic information required of licensed builders. It is presented as a training package and avoids the complex presentation of surveying information found in most surveying texts. DC2.2 Project Management for Domestic Construction This text presents, in 7 stages, the procedures applicable to the management of a typical house. The procedures are strictly based on the requirements of legislation and the principles of contract law.
